WHAT IS CONSCIOUS SEDATION?

Our sedation dentist is pleased to offer oral conscious sedation to our patients. Oral conscious sedation allows patients to remain conscious so they can respond to their dentist’s questions and commands. At the same time, the patient will feel content and calm, and will be able to sit peacefully throughout their entire procedure.

How does oral conscious sedation work? When you come see our sedation dentist for a consultation, he will prescribe the anti-anxiety pill that is right for you. You’ll take the pill shortly before your appointment, and your anxiety will ebb away.

Although oral conscious sedation patients do not usually fall asleep, they may feel as if they are waking up after their procedure. If a visit lasts a few hours, it may only feel like a few minutes to the sedation dentistry patient. The patient may not have any memory of their appointment after it is over.

IV SEDATION DENTISTRY

IV sedation ensures complete tranquility and comfort during your upcoming dental visit. Intravenous Sedation is administered into the blood system during treatment. We monitor your vitals closely for a safe and pain-free procedure.

Patients are not asleep for intravenous sedation, but they are in a dreamlike state. IV sedation patients are still able to breathe on their own and able to respond to questions. However, they are unaware of what is going on around them, and they may feel as if they have taken a nap.

Dr. Salha and the Parsons Smile Center team are fully trained and equipped to administer IV sedation dentistry!

IS SEDATION DENTISTRY RIGHT FOR ME?

Are you wondering if you are a good candidate for IV sedation? Come see Dr. Salha for a free consultation to discuss the possibility of IV sedation.

Other sedation options are available. IV sedation is a deeper form of sedation.

IV Sedation can help patients with:

  • SEVERE FEAR OR ANXIETY: Are you avoiding needed dental work due to anxiety? Our safe anesthesia and sedation techniques will make your appointment painless.
  • DIFFICULTY BECOMING NUMB: Does local anesthesia fail to give you the comfort you need? These patients may want to discuss IV sedation with Dr. Salha.
  • EXTENSIVE TREATMENT NEEDS: If you need complex treatment or multiple procedures, IV sedation can allow you to get more done in one sitting.
  • SENSITIVE GAG REFLEX: Some patients have an overactive gag reflex that renders them unable to receive dental work while wide awake. IV sedation will calm them and their reflexes so they can receive the work they need.
  • BETTERING YOUR DENTAL EXPERIENCE
Patients of all ages and with all different needs can have a better dental experience at Parsons Dental Center. Your comfort always comes first.
