A Brief Summary of the Following Page
Seeing a dentist can be intimidating, and you may feel nervous or need help getting comfortable. Fortunately, you can use sedation dentistry to keep you relaxed during your treatment. This type of dentistry uses a moderate level of sedation, which keeps you awake but more at ease, giving a painless, stress-free experience.
Dr. Fady Salha has practiced dentistry in Manhattan for over 30 years, so you can trust us to provide the best treatment possible and ease your worries with sedation dentistry. We are highly trained in administering quality sedation, giving us the knowledge needed to adjust your levels and ensure a safe experience. In our state-of-the-art facilities, we utilize the latest technologies and techniques, so you can rest assured you are getting the best care possible. Moreover, we communicate with you from start to finish, answering all your questions and providing the support you need before, during, and after treatment.
At Parsons Smile Center, we offer two types of sedation dentistry: oral conscious and intravenous (IV). We discuss your level of anxiety, length of treatment or procedure, health history, and personal preferences to identify the best option for you.
Oral conscious sedation allows patients to stay awake during their treatments but helps them stay relaxed and calm for a peaceful, painless procedure. With this method of sedation dentistry, we will find an anti-anxiety medication that works for you. You will take this pill shortly before your appointment. While most patients do not fall asleep with this sedation method, they may feel like they are waking up after their treatment. This type of sedation dentistry can be used if you are getting a gum disease treatment, a tooth colored filling, a dental crown, or cosmetic dental procedure.
For those with more severe dental anxiety or patients undergoing longer procedures, IV sedation may be the best option. This type of sedation involves administering the medication intravenously, resulting in a dreamlike state. Patients who receive this type of sedation can breathe on their own but may feel like they have taken a nap after the procedure is completed. We monitor vitals closely for a safe, tranquil treatment.
If you feel nervous about seeing a dentist, have pain that makes receiving treatment difficult, or have difficulty relaxing at a dental office, we may consider using sedation dentistry to help you receive the care you need to restore your smile. We are well-trained in administering oral conscious and IV sedation, so you can trust to provide the careful attention you need to feel relaxed and have a safe, comfortable experience.
